What is GISTV?
GISTV is a new and open way to view streaming video from the internet onto your
computer. The concept is the same as your TV at home, however, you get to choose
the channels that you like and want to watch from our fully open channel listings.
You can choose from 3 different mediums to view GISTV. GISTV.ca website, mceGISTV (Microsoft
Media Center) or mobileGISTV(coming soon).
How do I get GISTV?
GISTV is available by clicking on the 'The TV' link in the top menu.
mceGISTV is available by clicking on the 'mceGISTV' link in the top menu.
What's the cost?
No cost. These programs are absolutely free.
So that must mean there is spyware or advertising then right?
The online version may contain advertising but not spyware.
The downloadable program will absolutely not contain any advertising or spyware.
So how do you make money?
I make money at my day job. This project was designed to finally take advantage of
the capabilities of the internet without exploiting it for money. However, if this
catches on I will support the hardware / software and bandwidth through online
advertising.
Is the source code for the program and services available?
No, that is definitely intellectual property, however the API / Web Services are
complete open and freely avaiable for those interested.
Faqs
Full Screen
To make the screen full size, double click on the video window or right clicking
on the video window and selecting 'Zoom' then 'Full Screen'.
To exit full screen just double click on the video screen.
No video
Check the top of the web page for any messages relating to 'Running ActiveX' or
security warnings.
Web Services
The web services listed below are freely available for you to use.
We do ask that you implement a minimal caching system for you applications.
We constantly monitor usage of these web services and any constant hitting
of this service could result in your IP / Domain being locked out.
